Vampire and Werewolf
Warm paw or cold hand... Which side are you on?
Back-to-back pendant made from one copper and one sterling silver square
soldered together, with a wolf's paw and a vampire's hand etched in the metal.
Sterling silver chain and jump ring. Pendant is approximately 22mm x 22mm.
Sterling silver and copper squares are cut to dimension
The squares are protected with a thick coat of black varnish paint...
... then the designs are scratched in the varnish.
The varnished pieces are dipped in a solution of nitric acid. Copper will usually take fifteen to thirty minutes to etch, while silver typically takes a couple of hours. Different depths can be achieved by leaving the pieces longer in the acid.
After removing the black varnish, the design appears etched in the metal. The two squares are soldered together back to back. All that remains now is to polish the piece to give it a high finish, and add the jump ring and chain.
